Can't wait for the next Ben 10 game? Hey, it's already here! You might have missed it since this one isn't in shops, it's a download only game, available on Xbox Live Arcade and WiiWare!
That mischievous magical moron Hex is up to his old tricks again, trying to take over the world by replacing technology with his own spooky blend of black magic. Luckily Ben Tennyson is on hand to sort him out, as always!
Even though its only 2D, the game looks pretty cool. The characters look just like they do on TV and there are loads of fun little details to spot. Keep your ears open for some funny lines as well, like Swampfire commenting on his smelly pits! It's just a shame that the story is told with still pictures and captions, not proper animated scenes.
Rise of Hex is OK for a pocket money download, especially if you love Ben 10, but sometimes the jumps are too fiddly and the controls can be a bit stiff. It's fun for a weekend, but there are loads of bigger and better games that you could be playing instead.
Unfortunately, Ben's been fiddling with his Omnitrix and has shorted it out, meaning his alien forms aren't all available. Well, not to start with anyway. You start off with Swampfire and Brainstorm, and the longer you play, the more of Ben's aliens you get to change into! Each one has their own special abilities that you can use to defeat Hex and his evil minions.
Unlike the previous Ben 10 games, which were mostly about fighting, this one is a 2D platform game where you'll be finding keycards to open doors, solving puzzles and jumping across perilous obstacles. There are fifteen stages and three gigantic bosses to battle against, not to mention the ten alien forms to unlock and master!
Watch out for Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, the all-new TV series where all of Ben's aliens get a powerful upgrade! Just check out Ultimate Humungosaur! Grrr!
