Review!!
The game picks up from the end of the movie, and finds Megamind battling against The Doom Syndicate. There'll be different versions of the game for different consoles, each with their own gameplay. 360 and PS3 owners get Megamind: Ultimate Showdown, with 2-player co-op mode and loads of gadgets! Wii players get the four-player party game Mega Team Unite, which lets you choose from nine characters. PSP and DS owners get Megamind: The Blue Defender, which lets you upgrade your blaster weapons.
The Wii version is called Mega Team Unite. This one has multiplayer for up to four players, with nine characters to choose from. There are shooting gallery minigames and hectic combat arenas, but if you want anything to do with the movie's story, you should probably pick another version. This is very much a Wii party game with Megamind characters, rather than a Megamind videogame.
Megamind is the latest hilarious animated movie from the studio behind How To Train Your Dragon and Shrek. It stars Will Ferrell as a crazy supervillain with a giant brain and a big blue head, as he battles against the cheesy superhero Metro Man, played by Hollywood heart throb Brad Pitt. The film looks ace, and the game is looking pretty cool as well. Check it out!
The Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game, Ultimate Showdown, is a straight forward action game where you jog through levels, blasting enemies with crazy gadgets and solving simple puzzles to proceed. The graphics are pretty great, compared to most movie tie-in games, and there are lots of funny lines. It's incredibly easy - you can finish it in an afternoon - but there are some cool minigames to unlock as well.
Warning!
The Xbox 360 version has a pretty terrible bug in it. If you beat a boss fight without dying, the game freezes. This is especially annoying as the game has Achievements for beating the bosses without dying! D'oh! We're waiting to see if this problem is going to be fixed, but if you have the choice you might want to pick up the PS3 version instead. UPDATE! This bug has now been fixed, but your console needs to be connected Xbox Live to download the software patch.
DS and PSP owners get to play The Blue Defender. This is still a 3D action game, but it's more based around shooting and powering up your blasters. It's obviously simpler than its big brother on the PS3 and 360, but is a pretty good alternative if you don't mind some fiddly controls.
