PlayStation Move

First Look!!

We like to move it, move it...and so does everybody else! That's the message from the Big Important Games Making People, as 2010 looks set to be the year of motion control. Yep, jumpy waggly wavy gameplay is coming to the PlayStation 3, and Sony has got a few tricks up its sleeve to make sure that PlayStation Move is more than a posh Wii!
So, OK, yeah - it looks a lot like the Wii remote at first. PlayStation Move comes in three pieces. First is the PlayStation Eye camera - you may already have one of these. Then there's the motion controller - that's the bit with the big glowing ball on the end. The ball can change colour, so games can tell different players apart. The camera can even detect the ball in the dark, and as well as working out what your arms are doing, it will work out how far away you are! Finally, there's the navigation controller. This is like the nunchuk on the Wii, with more buttons and a little joystick for games that require more precise control. Put them all together, and you've got something really cool!

Sports Champions

You can't have a motion controller without a sports game, and the PS3 looks like it'll have one of the best. There are six events, but rather than stick with the obvious choices, Sony has chosen table tennis, volleyball, archery, disc golf, bocce and gladiator duels. Wait...what? Yep, Sony's idea of a fun sport is clobbering your mates with a giant hammer. Nice!

EyePet

That adorable little virtual critter will be getting a PlayStation Move makeover, so you'll be able to interact with the adorable fuzzball much more realistically. EyePet was always a lot of fun, but getting the camera to recognise what you were doing could be a pain. Thankfully, Move will sort that out, no problem!

Kung Fu Rider

Easily one of the weirdest games lined up for PlayStation Move, Kung Fu Rider is all about an office worker and his secretary escaping from gangsters in Hong Kong. How do they do this? By hurtling down the street on office chairs, and other wheeled contraptions! You use the Move controller to keep your balance, and to lash out with your arms and legs to score points and clear obstacles. The game features realistic physics, so if you topple over, that poor fella is going flying!

TV Superstars

Ever fancied taking part in a crazy reality TV show, but didn't fancy making an idiot of yourself in front of the whole country? Well, here's your answer. After taking your picture with the PlayStation Eye camera, TV Superstars lets you seek fame and fortune by doing silly stunts in the safety of your own home, where only your cat will see you looking stupid. In Frock Star you have to totter down a catwalk. Let's Get Physical is like Gladiators, but even more ridiculous. But we're looking forward to hip-hop cooking show Big Beat Kitchen most of all!

echochrome II

If all of this sounds too obvious, maybe you should take a look at echochrome II. The sequel to the brain-bending 3D puzzler will be getting the Move treatment so you can create your own optical illusion levels to confuse your mates!

The Shoot

Here's a cool idea for a shooter. You're not some lone space marine, but an actor on a movie set. The cameras are rolling while you "perform" in the action scenes, and if you get killed you don't lose a life, but the director will fire you if you mess up too many shots. An "on-rails" shooting game, where you follow a fixed path as if you're on a train, The Shoot will include everything from sci fi to horror to cowboy scenes. Yee-ha!

trigger happy?

With so many PlayStation Move games involving pointing and shooting at the screen, it's no surprise to find that there'll be an official gun attachment to make the experience feel that little bit more exciting. We're excited about the idea, but we can't help thinking this looks more like mum's hairdryer than something a cool action hero would use...
Other games due for PlayStation Move include the super cool arcade blaster Time Crisis: Razing Storm, SingStar Dance, minigame compilation Start The Party and a wicked wizarding adventure called Sorcery. Other games will support the controller, such as the upcoming Michael Jackson dance game, Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Ape Escape PS3. We're most excited about Heroes On The Move, which teams Ratchet and Clank with Jak and Daxter, plus super thief Sly Racoon, for a monster PlayStation mascot team-up!
