Review!!
The game takes place in the future, when boring men in boring suits have sucked all the fun and colour out of the world. Shaun White, being an awesome skate dude, has been arrested but before he gets taken away, he gives you his skateboard. A board with the power to reshape the whole world...
You'll want to get good at tricks though, as that's how you earn the points needed to fill up your influence meter. The more influence you have, the more stuff you can do to the game world. To start with, you can make ramps and bumps pop out of the ground. Later on you'll be conjuring half pipes out of building walls, and inspiring dull, grey people to grab a board and join you!
The best feature is the way you can create grinds and ramps out of thin air, flying over people's heads to reach new areas. It really opens out the game world and it looks pretty awesome as well!
Yawn. Another skateboarding game. Between Tony Hawk and EA's skate, who needs another one of these? Well, we do, actually. Especially as Shaun White Skateboarding isn't like other skating games. This one lets you get really crazy...
Control is easy to pick up. The left stick gets you moving, the right stick is for ollies and flips. Land on a rail or ledge and you grind it. From there you learn to do grabs and spins and manuals, and suddenly you're pulling off insane tricks with a few flicks and twitches of the controller! Unlike other skating games, this one doesn't send you crunching on your face if you don't land perfectly - you just won't earn any points for that trick.
With so many skateboarding games becoming quite technical and tricky (as in "difficult" not "full of tricks") it's great that Shaun White Skateboarding lets you do insane stuff without being a control-stick-twizzling genius. It's perfect for players who love skating but don't like to get bogged down in complicated controls.
