Roll out the monkeys! Super Monkey Ball is getting the 3DS treatment, and here's what we've got to look forward to. Careful, there's banana peels everywhere...
For Monkey Ball mode, you can use the circle stick or rely on the gyroscope motion detection feature of the 3DS to wobble your way through. As moving the console means moving the screen, which ruins the 3D effect, this probably isn't your best bet! Trouble is, play it with the stick and it's dead easy!
Monkey Fight is a brawling fighting mode, where you try and knock the other character out of bounds. Like Monkey Race, it's OK but it can be annoying to hammer away at an opponent and not get anywhere. You'll probably play this mode a couple of times, but you won't come back to it.
Super Monkey Ball 3D is split into three different game types, each one playable with the wacky cast of Monkey Ball characters. Monkey Ball is the main mode, where you roll around pathways collecting bananas and trying not to fall off. Monkey Race is a kart racer. With monkeys. And Monkey Fight is a big fight. With monkeys.
Monkey Race is a Mario Kart style race mode, where you fling cool little cars around rollercoaster style courses, using different weapons and abilities to beat the other monkeys. It's quite nice, but some of the weapons are really annoying, and your kart stops dead whenever you bump into anything. It's the only kart racer for the 3DS at the moment, but you might be better off waiting for Mario Kart.
