Western Heroes

Review!!

The game comes with a big plastic rifle, into which you click your Wii controllers. Sadly, you'll have to provide your own cowboy hat. And horse.

You can have four players on the screen at once (although only one of you will have the plastic rifle, unless you buy four copies, but that's just silly). There are also mini-games, like shooting cans as they pop up into the air. It's certainly not the most varied party game around, but it's still a lot of fun.
The game is more like a colourful cartoon than a gritty, violent western. Don't expect much realism either - some of your enemies have jetpacks and metal fists, while the big baddy is a crazy professor with a mechanical arm!

While everyone has been going ga-ga over PlayStation Move and Kinect, it's easy to forget that the Wii still has a few tricks up its white plastic sleeve. Like this simple but fun cowboy shooter, that turns your remote and nunchuk into a hefty rifle, perfect for blastin' those pesky varmints!
The game itself is a straightforward shooting gallery, with enemies who pop out of the scenery, ready to be blasted. Fail to hit them in time, and they'll shoot you. It's simple but effective stuff, although there are some frustrating bits later on when it gets a bit too tricky for no good reason.
Western Heroes is as straight forward as shooting games go, but with a big lump of plastic tucked into your shoulder it's really easy to get into the cowboy mood. It's short and silly, but we really enjoyed it all the same. Good old fashioned shooty fun. What's wrong with that?
