Yar's Revenge

Review!!

Yar is a feisty manga lady, strapped to a flying robot insect. She's on a quest to defeat the evil Qotile aliens, who want to take over the universe. Don't they always?
It's a fast and frantic game, and it's also a confusing one thanks to a control setup that bends your fingers into stupid shapes. Each weapon is best used against certain enemy types, and each one also has a different trigger button. As well as that, you need to constantly use both sticks to move Yar and to aim your weapons. It's like patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time. At 1000mph. Upside down.
Yar's Revenge is a remake of an ancient game from 1981. This new version has almost nothing to do with the original, and it's a lot less cheesy! Can you believe this was one of the best-selling games at the time?

Reckon you're super rock-hard awesome at games? Then why not give this finger-snapping blaster a try and see how tough you really are?
It's an into-the-screen shooter, where you fly through the landscape, blasting the enemies as they pass by. You have a selection of weapons to make your job easier, from a standard laser, to missiles and a rail gun that cuts through tanks and armoured enemies. If things get really bad, use the Zoron Cannon to wipe out everything!
Yar's Revenge is strictly for the hardcore shooter fan, and it helps if you have extra mutant fingers to cope with the joypad-juggling needed to finish the game. It's certainly not a bad game, but it's not much fun unless you really like games that leave you out of breath!
