Mario started out as the hero of this early arcade machine, saving a girl from an angry gorilla by jumping over barrels. Back then he was just called Jumpman, and was a carpenter rather than a plumber.

Super Mario Bros Trilogy, 1985 - 1988

If you've ever enjoyed a 2D platform game, it's because of Super Mario Bros. This is still the best-selling games series of all time and it invented the modern run and jump game as we know it today. Proper classics!

Mario 64, 1996

Mario went 3D on the Nintendo 64 and brought gaming into the modern age. Run around the Koopa Kingdom, diving underwater and flying through the sky! A legend of gaming!

Super Mario Sunshine, 2002

An evil Shadow Mario is making a mess of Isle Delfino, and it's up to the real Mario to clean it up with his water-squirting backpack!

Mario Bros, 1983

This is the game that introduced Luigi, as well as the Koopa turtles. You only play on one screen and have to bash all the Koopa to earn points. It's dead simple, but pretty good fun.

Super Mario Kart, 1992

Mario takes to the track, with all his friends (and enemies!) for a racing game that is still great today. You can get the latest version for the Wii with the cool steering wheel add-on too!

Super Mario RPG, 1996

Mario goes epic in this brilliant and massive adventure from the people who created Final Fantasy. If you like role-playing games, give this a try. It's weird but awesome!

Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games, 2007

Mario teamed up with Sonic, his Sega rival, for the first time ever in this wicked collection of sporting mini-games, produced for the Beijing Olympics. The Winter Olympics sequel is pretty great too!

AVOID!

The Super Mario Bros movie from 1993 is poop! It has almost nothing to do with the games, and Mario only wears his classic red and blue jumpsuit right at the end. Stick with the games!
