Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Review!

We join her in this game just as she's about to claim the Mirror of Smoke from an ancient Mayan temple. Oops - some bad blokes swipe the mirror and unleash an evil god called Xolotl (bless you!) from his 2000-year prison. It's up to Lara, and a hulking Mayan warrior called Totec, to save the day!
You can find secret relics hidden in the levels, or earn them by completing mini challenges such as beating a certain time limit or solving a maze quickly. You can also throw spears into the wall and use them to climb higher, or try Lara's grapple gun to swing around.
It's a really cool game, and you'll want to replay the levels to get faster times and more power-ups. There are some tricky bits, though, and sometimes it feels like the game isn't telling you what you need to do. There's a giant spiked roller that killed us over and over until we worked out how to dodge it! Clue: hang over the side!

Dressing up!

To celebrate the return of Lara, there are some cool new items on the Xbox Avatar Marketplace. We particularly like this creepy and wacky Shaman outfit!

You can also download a full Lara costume, or some cool Mayan accessories! There's even a premium theme, if you want to make your dashboard all dank and cobwebby.

It's been a few years since Lara Croft was last seen in Tomb Raider Underworld, but her latest adventure might surprise her old fans. It's a cheap download on Xbox Live Arcade (and PlayStation Network, soon) and it's a top-down shooter. But it's also a platform game. Oh, and a puzzle game. And...look, it's Lara Croft. You know what she's like.
You control Lara from above, and can make her jump and somersault through fourteen tricky tombs and temples. Action comes from swarms of monsters, and you can shoot in all directions by holding down the trigger and using the right stick to aim your shots. There are also loads of fiendishly clever puzzles to solve, pulling levers, rolling giant balls and triggering pressure pads.
The game plays slightly differently if you have two players - one controlling Totec, the other Lara. Puzzles are shifted around to be more challenging, and there are more monsters as well. At the moment you can only play offline, but in September you'll be able to play with anyone on Xbox Live.
