Review!!
Pilotwings takes you back to Wuhu Island, home of Wii Sports Resort, for a selection of high-flying challenges. You'll need to earn your pilot's licence, then work your way through five ranks, from Novice all the way up to Platinum, taking part in trials designed to test your speed and accuracy in the air.
You earn stars for every challenge based on how well you performed. Bumping into things and taking too long will both reduce your score, and make it harder to unlock the next rank. Although the game looks silly and cute, it gets pretty tough later on. Remember: practice makes perfect!
3D or not 3D?
It's no surprise this is one of the first games released for the 3DS - it's perfect for 3D! The feeling when you first take flight, and can see the island stretching out below you, is absolutely amazing and you'll probably have to snatch your console back from people desperate to have a look! It's a pity there's not more to the game - extra vehicles or more varied challenges - but it's a good starter game for the 3DS and even when all the challenges are beaten, it's still cool to fly around and admire the scenery!
What better way to show off a shiny new 3DS than with a game that's all about terrifying heights and dizzying drops? But does Pilotwings Resort offer more than just 3D eye candy? Read on to find out!
There are three vehicle types on offer in the game. The plane is the most obvious, the hang glider is the most chilled and the jetpack is the craziest! All are really easy to control, so even if you're struggling to beat a challenge it's still fun to just swoop around the island and enjoy the view!
Keep playing to unlock a vomit-making skydiving challenge, as well as dioramas - little interactive scenes of different vehicles that are fun to tinker with.
