You start by choosing one of three characters. The Destroyer is a big beefy bloke who is perfect for bashing the beasties up close. The Vanquisher is fast and agile, and uses guns and bows to attack from a distance. The Alchemist uses the power of stones called Embers to call up amazing magical attacks or summon creatures to help him out.
This game is all about the loot. The town of Torchlight is full of people who'll send you into the nearby caves, mines and dungeons on quests, but what you're really after is as much gold as you can find and stacks of cool weaponry to keep improving your character. Merchants will buy anything you don't need, and you can even send your pet to the shops while you carry on exploring!
Torchlight is out now on Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points. It's also available on PC.

There's no multiplayer, but you won't be alone on your adventure. You have a pet, who will follow you around and attack enemies or defend you from harm. You can also feed your pet with special fish to change its shape, either for a short time or permanently!
Torchlight is a great game if you like the customisation and action of a role-playing game, but would rather have something you can play in short bursts rather than hours at a time. It's not too difficult and you'll get to level up really fast, unlocking even better abilities. Torchlight is fast, frantic and incredibly addictive. We love it!
